What we do

We developed Propertymines and set out its architecture, which on a portal is most of the job. Everything rests on one repeatable project record, so every development gets the same run of sections in the same order: overview, floor plan, layout plan, facilities plan, location map, video and an enquiry form. That record then surfaces three ways. Through a searchable index with keyword, location, sort and results per page controls. Through a landing page for each city, which is the same index filtered to one area. And through the news section, which is a separate editorial tree with its own categories. Adding a development is a matter of filling in the record, not building a page. The work covered the design, the build, the site architecture, the writing and the on page SEO.

Short description

Propertymines is a Malaysian portal publishing information on new residential property launches, concentrated in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley. Each development has a project page carrying the developer name, unit and storey counts, land area, built up sizes, unit layouts, floor plans, facilities plans, location maps and video. A news section carries Malaysian property market articles filed under topic categories, and visitors can join an email list for early notice of launches.

Full description

The interesting decision on a property portal is what the city page is. Make it a folder and every project has to live inside exactly one area, which falls apart the moment a development sits on a boundary or an area gets renamed. Make it a filter and a project can appear on as many area pages as it genuinely belongs to, while the project itself keeps one address and one canonical page. This site takes the second route, and the breadcrumb shows it: a project reads Home, Projects, then the project, with the city sitting alongside as a way in rather than above as a parent.

The editorial tree is deliberately built the other way round. There a category is a real parent, because an article belongs to a subject in a way a building does not belong to a suburb. Two trees, two different rules, each matching what it actually holds.
